США
Добавлен 14 дек 2014
Webcasts for an introductory course in Geotechnical engineering. These materials are designed to align with the text "Geotechnical Engineering: Principles and Practices" 3rd edition by Coduto, Yeung & Kitch (Pearson, 2011, ISBN: 0-13-236868-4). The webcasts were developed for CE 325/326: Geotechnical Engineering I & II at Cal Poly Pomona, and CENG 3341: Introduction to Geotechnical Engineeirng at Angelo State University but can be used for any introductory geotechnical engineering course. Playlists are organized by chapters in the text book which is abbreviated CYK (2011).

CE 326 Mod 12.9b Triaxial Shear Test
why there ıs no unconsolidated draıned (UD) test ?
Could you please explain what the Gama (sat) is?
Kids, do yourselves a favor and always draw a 3-phase diagram 🙂
Thanks for presintation
Thank you so much!!
Thank you !
At 9:58 you have Porosity equaling 38.9% is that an error? Because when I did mine I got (0.0058/0.0157)x(100%) = 36.9%. Am I do something wrong? Also why is the Water content divided by the dried sample and not the original sample weight. aren't we trying to figure out how much water was in the original sample?
Could be. I'm notorious for making errors.
If CD takes longer to conduct than the CU, and gives you the same parameters as CU, when would you use a CD test over a CU test?
Precisely why CD tests are seldom done.
Nice explanation
In 13:55, you said that effective stress is greater than total stress, but in other books and videos, pore water is positive and it gets subtracted from total stress.
I was wondering about one specific thing. The effectiveness of pneumatic tire roller while compacting finer granular soils such as sandy gravel. I am skeptic about it.
many thanks for wonderfull explanation. :)
Thank you for sharing this helpful video
Thanku
Highly appreciate your time and experience you freely shared with people around the globe. As a PhD student it was really influential for my studies. Tnq indeed Prof. Kitch.
very good demostration thank you a lot
really nice video
Thank you. Very helpful
I know it's a long shot since this video is over 8 years old but since I don't have the text book, can anyone share the answers to the problems in the comments below for comparison purposes. It would be greatly appreciated. Thx
The best part of the videos is your voice ...very precise and clear
ok I have a question, you say you're saturating the sample but at the same time the sample is consolidated.... could you explain?
Very helpful! ☺ At 11:22 mins Volume of water = 0.0173, not 0.0143
post nut clarity
helped alot, thank you
Awesome!
I’m a grad student and I’m glad I found this video. Thanks!
Thabk you again
man I hate imperial units
Thank you
Prof. So nice. Which university do you teach ? with regards Shivashankar
Absolutely what I needed. Thank you.
This is just brilliant. Yes, soils are cool! Very helpful for my Saturated Soil Mechanics course.
Excellent video for studying for the asbog exam!! Thank you so much, as a visual learner all the lab videos are super helpful!!! <3

where is the lab manual
Hello, Sir. thank you for your video! Can you explain for Soil E, the Cu>6 and 1<=Cc<3 follow D2487, but the soil is Cu>6 and Cc <1, there is no option in the D2487 standard ?
Wow
I wish you were my geotech professor back then😢
Great presentation Prof. Thank you for making it accessible
Perfect presentation, appreciated.
this is the best quality video so far. kudos
sir plz next part
Good educational video. I think most drill operators could benefit from a quick watch👍👏
perfect delivery of a rather complex issue.
You are excellent
@19:22 I believe P is effective pressure itself (@17:46), so we should Not subtract pore pressure again.
Thank you very much
This is the best explaination and demonstration i have seen so far. Thank you a lot.
Dear sir Thanks for your lectures. One of the projects where the permeability is needed for the top 5 meters. The well is a semi penetrating unconfined aquifer, but we reach a depth of 30 m and no aquiclude has been encountered. What is the thickness of the aquifier (H) that should be used in the equation in this case? In addition, I don't understand how the thickness of the unconfined aquifier can affect the flow rate into the semi penetrating well. Assuming the well is 5 meters deep, does it make any difference in the flow into the well if the aquiclude is 10 meters or 100 meters deep
Thanks !
